Information

The primary functions of the Liberty Police Department are the preservation of peace and order, the detection and prevention of crime, protection of property, apprehension of offenders and the enforcement of the laws of the State of North Carolina and the ordinances of the Town of Liberty. Society demands that law enforcement officers have the strength to endure all obstacles and maintain the integrity of a saint. Officers are required to make life and death decisions in a split second while under all types of pressure and to be always correct in making those decisions. The outcome of those decisions will be studied by scholars and officers of the courts for hours, days, weeks, months and even years. We rely on our training, common sense, and compassion for other individuals to guide our daily decisions and actions.

In 2003 the Liberty Police Department embarked in the direction and application of Community Oriented Policing to improve the quality of life for the community. The implementation has been gradual, but a progressive process and we continue to adapt and implement new measures to this day. A number of programs and improved community partnerships have been formed to improve the positive and proactive direction of the Liberty Police Department in cooperation with the community.

Mission Statement:
The mission of the Liberty Police Department is to provide the highest quality of police services to our customers; the citizens of and visitors to our town. We are dedicated to improve the quality of life in our town; our department will work in partnership with our community to provide a high degree of effective and efficient public safety while maintaining respect for cultural diversity and individual rights and dignity.

Vision Statement:
Providing professional law enforcement services in partnership with the community.
