As many of you know that the Liberty Arts Guild has been painting fire hydrants in our business areas with some amazing designs. We want to allow others that live or work in Liberty to have a chance to express themselves by painting a hydrant through our Paint-A-Hydrant program.

Show your, or your kids, coworkers or friends, creativity and artistic flair by painting one of our town fire hydrants. We are not just looking for the most talented artists either, we want this program to be fun for anyone that has a creative idea. There is no specific theme for the fire hydrants, but artists are encouraged to incorporate different elements of the community into their art. This program is open to everyone! We encourage artists of all ages, backgrounds, ethnicities, genders, and races to submit designs. We hope to have as many hydrants as possible painted (the Town has over 300).

Anyone that lives or works in The Town of Liberty can fill out an application for the Paint-a-Hydrant program. Here is what we need:

  • The location of the hydrant (address or intersection)
  • A simple design sketch of what you intend to do
  • Your contact information

This is an ongoing program, so there is no specific deadline. If you submit an application you will be contacted by the fire department that we received your submission and once a review is done we will contact you further.

As fire hydrants get completed, the Town and LFD will publicize on our website, Facebook and in other manners, of the locations of painted hydrants for visitors and residents to find them. Hydrants will remain painted in the design until they deteriorate to a point, as judged by the fire department, to need repainting. LFD reserves the right to repaint any hydrant at any time for safety reasons.

Sketch approval decisions will be made by the fire department.
