LWCF Grant and Plans for Freedom Park
The LWCF Grant at Freedom Park is scheduled to be completed by the end Spring 2026.
The project was originally set to be completed by August 2024, but due to COVID and increases in the price of materials, the grant was pushed back. As a result, we asked for an extension so we could focus on obtaining additional funds. If you have any more questions, you can email:
Additions Include
Splash Pad - The Splash pad will be placed beside the old brick concession stand and playground near the shelter at Freedom.
Amphitheater - The Amphitheater will be placed beside the basketball court, and past tennis court.
This also includes plans of a new concession stand, bathrooms, and landscaping needs.
Funds Breakdown
The Town is paying $150,000 toward the project;
The Town has received $100,000 from NC Commerce. The Town also received $200,000 from Randolph County;
The state will match $450,000 of these funds. The total guaranteed funds for the grant is $900,000 as of right now.
